US Defense Secretary doesn't know if invading Iraq was a good idea

David Brooks in the NYT:

I asked him whether invading Iraq was a good idea, knowing what we know now. He looked at me for a bit and said, “I don’t know.”

That's not candor, it's horrifying. Nearly 3,800 American troops are dead and their chief doesn't know if the war they died for is a good idea?
