Arizona State Rep. Kyrsten Sinema is very cool. I met her today at the Big Tent. She's a lesbian who helped defeat the anti-gay amendment on the ballot in 2006 in Arizona. Siding with the haters, John McCain led the campaign to pass that referendum. McCain and the haters lost. I asked Sinema about McCain's record on LGBT issues -- and she was very, very clear:
The right wingers have placed the anti-gay amendment back on the ballot this year. Yes, the voters spoke in 2006, but that wasn't good enough. It's back.
