Today is Karl Rove's last day in the Bush administration. Finally. CNN just reported that spinmeister Tony Snow's last day will be September 14th. Dana Perino is taking over as White House Press Secretary. She's a disaster.
He says that he can't go the distance with Dear Leader -- it's all about the Benjamins. (via Think Progress):
I've already made it clear I'm not going to be able to go the distance, but that's primarily for financial reasons. I've told people when my money runs out, then I've got to go.
Snow also noted that he expects "probably a couple" of other resignations are in the wind.
I'm sure Faux News will [officially] welcome him back into the fold.
Bill O'Reilly has a problem with "hate sites" like, he says, FreeRepublic.com. Then why doesn't O'Reilly call out White House spokesman Tony Snow who posted on FreeRepublic.com for years?
Nice. Snow just said this live during a press conference. So after four years of pretending that this case mattered, that this crime mattered, that this leak mattered, the White House is now suggesting that leaking the name of an undercover CIA agent for political gain is business as usual in Washington, DC. Watch the video below, it quickly becomes clear that the White House's new position on this crime is that it wasn't a big deal - and they're not saying that Scooter lying wasn't a big deal, rather, they're now saying that outing a CIA agent wasn't a big deal. That's a new tack for this administration, and it's quite serious and scary. No one in national security circles would think that leaking the name of an undercover CIA agent was no big deal, was business as usual, or was just like what reporters do every day (see Snow's last comment in the video for that gem).
Considering the attack on a smaller airport today in Glasgow, I am a loss to understand why Tony Snow would make such a careless statement in response to the situation.
President Bush's spokesman, Tony Snow, said some airports in the United States would tighten security in response to the events in Britain but the terror alert status would not change.
"The most you're going to see right now is some inconvenience — some increased inconvenience of airline passengers, more likely at large airports than small," Snow said.
Didn't some of the 9/11 attackers start their day at a small airport in Maine? There was no reason to provide such information in response to Glasgow and I believe Snow has created a very dangerous situation for Americans with his poorly worded response today. Even his dismissive "increased inconvenience" remark shows just how the White House lacks seriousness about fighting terror and protecting Americans.
