Tony Blair is really too much

Oh please. How does invading a country and killing people in any way mesh with bringing religions together? Let's not forget he is on the payroll of Wall Street, making millions to guide those slimeballs out of their self-created problems, all on the taxpayers bill. What next? Joining hands with Phil Gramm and being a co-chair of the McCain campaign?
Former prime minister Tony Blair has promised to "spend the rest of my life" uniting the world's religions.

He said faith could be a "civilising force in globalisation", bringing people together to solve problems such as malaria and extreme poverty.

Countries meet to discuss cluster bomb ban

If only the major producers of cluster bombs such as the US, China, Russia and India were present. If only it wasn't so profitable and acceptable to Congress. As it stands today, there is a fairly high rate of unexploded traditional ordnance scattered across the world. Cluster bombs increase that rate exponentially making a bad problem much worse. Even yesterday there was an incident in Tokyo with an unexploded WWII bomb and the world powers have left their mark in every corner of the globe. Farmers in countries such as Angola and Laos often live with the reality of working the soil and exploding leftover ordnance from another era. The people of Lebanon potentially have a much more serious problem since the recent war with Israel left cluster bomblets (probably US made) throughout the battle zones.
"Governments have been talking about the dangers of cluster bombs for years. More delays mean more injuries and death for ordinary people. We have a unique opportunity to ban cluster bombs in Dublin -- it is now or never," she said.

Cluster munitions are among the weapons which pose the gravest dangers to civilians, according to the CMC.

Dropped from planes or fired from artillery, they explode in mid-air, randomly scattering bomblets. Countries are seeking a ban due to the risk of civilians being killed or maimed by their indiscriminate, wide area effect.

Blair to teach "faith and globalization" course at Yale

Reuters really skirts around a few stories with this one. While promoting his role as Palestinian peace envoy - though after the announcement, when have we heard anything? - they fail to mention his more recent position at JP Morgan as a $5,000,000 per year consultant. So the man who helped bring war, destruction and more poverty to the Middle East through a war based on lies is going to teach Yale students about bringing religions together for world peace? Only a school that allows people like Bush to buy his way into school could possibly think this is a good idea. What frauds.

This also again raises the issue of former politicians and their lobbying jobs. It's tiring to see all of these politicians (of both parties and globally) cash in after they leave office. When Reagan left office and then ran to Japan to make millions - when Japan was the biggest economic worry for Americans - it just seemed wrong. They all do it and yet last year when the British sailors were taken captive by Iran, there was outrage when they sold their stories to the press for peanuts. Is it so difficult too see that these jobs are obvious conflicts of interest? Who knows what kind of special favors were passed on then (or now) in return for a comfy consultant position.
